Shubhanshu, Axiom
National News: Group Captain Shubhanshu Shukla has become the pride of India as he embarks on a historic 14-day mission aboard the Dragon spacecraft. As part of the Axiom-4 mission, he reached the International Space Station along with three other astronauts. His cheerful video greeting — “Hello from Space!” — captured hearts across the country. Floating like a child, learning to eat and sleep in zero gravity, Shukla called this journey a solid step for India’s human spaceflight program. After 41 years since Rakesh Sharma, India once again salutes a son waving the tricolor beyond Earth.
Shukla joins Crew Dragon’s ISS mission as the first Indian onboard in decades. He’s the fourth professional astronaut in Axiom lineup. This mission signals India’s growing role in global space exploration beyond unmanned probes.
Earlier video showed him drifting weightlessly, eating and sleeping like a child discovering space. He expressed amazement and alertness at floating in zero-g. His ease reflects strong training and early mission success.
After Rakesh Sharma’s 1984 flight, Shukla lifts tricolor aboard ISS. Indian Air Force and PM Rajnath Singh praised the milestone. They called it a major leap for India’s human space ambitions.
Axiom-4 crew includes astronauts from four countries: India, US, others—underscoring international collaboration. Launched from Kennedy Space Center, they represent private-public partnerships. Each brings unique mission goals for science and research.
Shukla’s 14-day stay includes scientific research in microgravity. Experiments cover biology, material science, and human physiology. His contributions may inform future lunar or Martian missions, boosting India’s credibility in space science.
Axiom-4 is part of private missions expanding ISS use. NASA’s commercial partnership with SpaceX reflects space's growing privatization. India joining via Shukla shows how emerging space powers
